Critical Mass Games
Well it's been a week since the Border Rievers show in Newcastle Upon Tyne. A Decent enough show, a little on the smaller size but always a good turn out of manufacturers and traders. I went to the show looking for the Wargames Factory plastic Zombie boxset to go with the Battlefield Evolution Apocalypse-Z rules I had recently purchased. Alas it was not to be as it seems that no-one has any sets left.
I had resigned myself to a cheap trip and had decided not to purchase anything. I did not Bank on Critical Mass Games however. They were there with by far the most impressive display/participation game at the show. The Figures were beautifully painted and are fantastic sculpts. The Game itself was surprisingly good. The Mechanics share some aspects from Flames of War and seem to take the best aspects from Epic Armageddon. Alternate activation of units give the rules a far more fluid action than FOW. I was so impressed I took a price list went outside with a couple of my fellow wargamers from my club and worked out my purchases.
Critical Mass the game is in the Beta testing stage so is not for release but the game is very good. The miniatures are fantastic and I have been labouring over them now for a week. Here are some photos of the Miniatures I bought and a link to their website. Check em out, it's well worth it.

I was VERY tempted by these but just cannot face another period at the moment! Although I have just picked up some 6mm SF to use with FWC and an pondering a weird melding of time travel, vortexes, the Cold War and Xenophon!
ReplyDeleteHope fully see you for a game soon
